The 66% Merino Wool and 34% nylon fabric on this Pioneer Camp shirt provides a smooth and lightweight feel that breathes. You can’t see through the fabric so you can tell it is a high thread count. The seams are all doubled and, one of the coolest features is it comes with a fantastic quality washing bag. The other is it is tag less (thank you!). I washed mine on cold and hung to dry and it came out just like brand new.
This workout top is perfect for yoga, hiking, walking and biking in the warmer months. It would also make a great base layer in the colder months. I ordered mine to wear with a wind breaker for bike riding during the spring. If you are wondering what the true color is, it is close to the last two pictures I posted here and is better in person than the pictures on the listing. As for size, it is true to size and due to the nature of the weave, it does stretch. The price is on par with quality and I would highly recommend this short sleeve base layer.

Another win from Pioneer Camp.
Right out of the package, the quality of this merino wool shirt is immediately apparent. The fabric feels soft, breathable, and genuinely well-made—none of that scratchy or overly thin merino that can sometimes show up at this price point. It has a nice, balanced weight that works well for layering or wearing on its own.
Now, let’s talk about the color. I ordered the “Adriatic Blue,” and while it’s perfectly nice, it does lean a bit…2013. It’s that very specific saturated blue that feels slightly dated compared to the more neutral, modern palettes a lot of us reach for now. Personally, I would love to see this offered in more grounded tones—white, black, tan, maybe a soft heather—something a little more versatile and current.
That said, the quality absolutely carries it.
And then—unexpected bonus—the shirt comes with its own delicates wash bag. This is such a small but incredibly thoughtful addition, and honestly, more brands should be doing this. If you’re investing in a merino piece, proper care is what keeps it looking good long-term, and having a dedicated wash bag right out of the gate makes that so much easier.
It’s one of those details that signals the brand actually understands how their product will be used—and how to help customers get the most life out of it.
Overall, even if the color isn’t my personal favorite, the construction, comfort, and thoughtful extras make this an easy 5-star item. If Pioneer Camp expands their color…
