I love this shirt! It is super lightweight and comfortable. The material is soft. The fit is true to size. I ordered a medium, which is my normal size, and it fit well. The shirt is a fitted ladies cut, and it looks flattering without being too tight or too loose. For reference I am 5'4" and weigh 150lbs. This is an excellent hiking shirt! I wore it all day on a hike and stayed cool. The material is very breathable. I was able to wash it in the washing machine and then hung dry without any noticeable shrinkage. It has high quality stitching, and I expect it to last me for a long time.

Pioneer Camp merino wool shirt is surprisingly cool, even though you might think wool would be too hot. Since it’s a thin, lightweight merino, it actually helps regulate body temperature, so it stays breathable in the summer but still works as a base layer to keep you warm when it’s cold out. The color is beautiful, and the construction is really well done, especially the stitching and the detail on the seams.

I usually prefer a much more oversized fit, but since this has a more fitted cut, I’m glad I went a size up. I’m 56 and my body is changing, so I just feel more comfortable in things that aren't clinging to me, and sizing up made it fit just right for me. It's thin enough to layer under a sweater or over a long-sleeve shirt, but it also looks good on its own with shorts. I even ran it through the hand wash cycle and hung it to dry, and it came out looking perfect.

I have never put a product through its paces as I have this shirt! Everyone that travels extols the virtues of wool everything, even in heat! I was skeptical but willing because I plan on being in Rome at the end of August so when this shirt came up I went for it (green, large). Right out of the box I loved it, loved the color, the shape, the initial hand feel, big love! Then I put it on and I loved the way it looked on me, made me want to work on my arm muscles, but….. it felt itchy, not horrid itchy but enough that it got my attention. The washing instructions says you can machine or hand wash so I hand washed it first, hung it to dry, dried in a couple hours (fast!). I put it on again, better but still itchy so I threw it in the washer (instructions say you can) then hung it to dry. Much better! Maybe slight shrinkage, no biggie. Then the wear test but before that happened I needed a hot day (central Florida, didn’t have to wait long) so I threw it in with the clean clothes pile meaning to fold it but somehow it got balled up and when I pulled it out it was a mass of wrinkles. I used the steam on my iron lightly to see if that would pull the wrinkles out without ironing (like hanging in a hot shower) (34% nylon, I don’t think it should be ironed!) and the wrinkles came out with almost zero effort, very impressed! The wear test…was a huge success! I wore the heck out of it all day with no deodorant on because I’ve gone this far (!), high 80’s with some humidity, in and out…

The 66% Merino Wool and 34% nylon fabric on this Pioneer Camp shirt provides a smooth and lightweight feel that breathes. You can’t see through the fabric so you can tell it is a high thread count. The seams are all doubled and, one of the coolest features is it comes with a fantastic quality washing bag. The other is it is tag less (thank you!). I washed mine on cold and hung to dry and it came out just like brand new.

This workout top is perfect for yoga, hiking, walking and biking in the warmer months. It would also make a great base layer in the colder months. I ordered mine to wear with a wind breaker for bike riding during the spring. If you are wondering what the true color is, it is close to the last two pictures I posted here and is better in person than the pictures on the listing. As for size, it is true to size and due to the nature of the weave, it does stretch. The price is on par with quality and I would highly recommend this short sleeve base layer.
