I have several pioneer camp items and loved them all. The fabric on these shorts are soft and they are comfortable to wear outdoors. It has usable pockets rather than just for show. The only downside of these shorts is that they run large compared to other pioneer items I've had in the past. I purchased the small size and it's still very loose on me.

My wife and I are retired and like to hike trails in our local area and when we travel. Pioneer Camp Women's 5" Ripstop Hiking Cargo Shorts appear to be well made with careful stitching throughout. The nylon/spandex combination provides for a slight stretch while being water resistant, lightweight, and quick-drying. There are 4 pockets, two standard hand pockets and a lower zippered pocket on the front and a Velcro closure pocket on the backside. The one issue we encountered is with sizing. My wife measures 34” at the waist and 40” at the hip. The sizing chart places those measurements as needing XL. The XL size on my wife, however, is too big and she probably would have been better off with a large, which is her normal size for a garment of this type.

My wife and I are avid outdoor enthusiasts, and hiking is our favorite activity. When she spotted these shorts on Amazon, she couldn’t resist trying them out. After wearing them for a few days, she’s thoroughly impressed. We rate these shorts a solid four out of five stars because they’re stylish, comfortable, and water-resistant. They dry quickly in case we get caught in the rain, and the stretchy fabric provides a comfortable fit.
However, there’s one downside. While the shorts feature stretchy fabric, the waistband is not very stretchy at all, making them feel slightly tighter than she would have liked. The color is exactly as described, and they do run slightly small.
Despite this minor issue, she loves the durability and abrasion resistance of the shorts. The four pockets are practical and useful for hiking, and she appreciates the Velcro back pocket for security and the zipper thigh pocket.
She likes that these are machine washable and easy to clean.
Overall, we consider these shorts a great value for the money and a strong choice for women’s hiking shorts.
