Versatile Sun Hoodie With Many Thoughtful Features

This sun hoodie/rash guard has many thoughtful, wearer-friendly features. The material is very light and airy, making it a good choice for the beach, camping, or even high-intensity outdoor activities . I selected the green color, which is a very neutral, grayish-green that appears pretty close to the product picture. It appreciate that this hoodie includes a dedicated ponytail opening in the hood, has long sleeves with thumb holes, and offers a surprisingly deep pocket (about the size of an adult hand). While it appears to run true to size, the fit is more athletic, so if you prefer a looser feel, I would definitely recommend sizing up one or even two sizes.

    Thoughtful details

Finally! An SPF hoodie with a slot for a ponytail. I've avoided getting hoodies in sun-protective fabric because usually when I'm in the sun my hair is up and most hoodies are either too tight, or are uncomfortable with a ponytail so I wear a hat instead; kind of a hassle. The fabric of this shirt is cool and breathable and soft against your skin. The sleeves are also a great length. I have longer than average arms and many long-sleeves shirts run just a touch too short but not on this shirt. Another clever detail: what I thought was a manufacturing mistake is actually a flap on the left wrist for a wristwatch. This is a great shirt overall. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I tend to wear a S/M and ordered a M because I plan to wear this over t-shirts, tank tops, swimsuits, etc., and this fits snugly. Just be aware that if you prefer your sun protection wear a bit looser-fitting, size up. Still a highly recommend item, though.

    Lightweight and cooling

I run outdoors and it's been too hot lately in socal, even during our winter time. I purchased this hoodie as a sun protection shirt. I like that it is UPF and it comes with a hood to cover my head if the sun is beating down too harsh. It is very lightweight and does not feel hot once I'm warmed up. The color is light and cute. True to size, but I like it a little loose for comfort so I sized up.

    Comfortable, practical and perfect

This sun hoodie is a great addition to any active lifestyle. The material is thin and lightweight as you would expect from activewear, which makes it really comfortable to wear for extended periods without feeling hot or restricted. It moves with you and feels great against the skin.

It is suitable for hiking, fishing or any outdoor activity where you want sun protection and comfort. The UPF 50 coverage is an added bonus that I appreciate very much.

One of my favorite details is the little cutout for your watch or fitness tracker. Such a thoughtful and practical touch that makes a big difference when you are active and want easy access to your wrist. Smart design all around. Really happy with this item and would highly recommend it!

Excellent ultralight sun hoodie for hot, humid weather

I’ve tried quite a few sun hoodies over the years, and this one from Pioneer Camp really stands out for one specific reason: it is extremely light and breathable. If you live somewhere hot and humid or spend time outdoors in those conditions, this type of fabric makes a noticeable difference in comfort.

The material is very airy and thin, which allows heat to dissipate easily. Even in sticky, humid weather the fabric doesn’t feel suffocating or clingy, and the airflow through the weave helps keep you surprisingly cool. It’s the kind of layer that gives you sun coverage without the heavy β€œI’m wearing another shirt” feeling that thicker UPF garments can have. The hood is also a nice addition for protecting the back of the neck and ears when the sun is intense.

Fit-wise, it’s comfortable and easy to move in. It works well as a lightweight top layer for walking, casual hiking, gardening, travel, or just being outside for extended periods. I could also see it being great for beach days, paddleboarding, or warm-weather sightseeing where sun protection is important but temperatures are high.

One thing worth noting is that the fabric’s ultralight feel likely comes with a tradeoff in durability. Because the material is so thin and delicate, it looks like it could be vulnerable to abrasion. I’d personally avoid wearing this for activities that involve scraping against rock, carrying heavy backpacks with rough straps, or bushwhacking through brush. It feels more suited to lower…
