These check all the boxes for me.

This is an unbiased, honest review of the Pioneer Camp Waterproof Rain Pants...

I have a couple of pieces of clothing from Pioneer Camp and I've been highly impressed with their quality. These rain pants are no exception. Top notch construction and materials, excellent form fitting design, articulated legs, waterproof zippers, in a comfortable design that won't get you weighed down in a rainstorm.

Excellent for hiking or travel where you might get caught in a storm. They pack down small, inside a supplied carry stuff sack. They are 'breathable' but it should be noted that breathable rain gear only works when its about 90-100% humidity inside the clothing, as it requires a significant vapor pressure gradient—meaning it must be warmer and more humid inside the clothing than outside—to function effectively. So, know the limits of what it can do and you will be more comfortable knowing exactly how and when to use it effectively. With that said, these would be perfect for keeping in the car with that rain jacket as a backup or when the weather is too windy for an umbrella.

I love the elastic waist, plus the drawstring. Most rain gear suffers from sliding down when it becomes saturated but the drawstring give a perfect solution for this effect. The ankles have zippered cuffs for pulling on over boots, plus Velcro tabs for keeping out the draft or snow...another great touch. Rain pants with pockets? Yes! These actually have zippered side pockets for your keys, phone, etc. and are…

    Fantastic!

These Pioneer Camp waterproof rain pants are exactly what I needed to work in the yard during the rainy spring and fall months in the Pacific Northwest. Although these are made for men, I ordered them for myself. I am 5’7” and have long legs and they are great for going over a pair of mud or hiking boots. I am currently approximately 165lbs and the medium fits great with lots of room for a pair of pants, sweats or long Johns under. I intended for them to fit baggy so I could get up on my tractor without tearing them out.

They have zippered pockets at the hips with mesh for breathability, gathered waistband about 3/***** around the waist and a flat front with drawstring. There are also zippers going up both sides of the legs which is nice for taking off without having to take off your boots. The knees are darted so you can move freely in them. They are not stretchy and are made of a lightweight polyester with 20,000 waterproofing.

All of the zippers are made of plastic with pulls and have waterproof rubber so there won’t be any leaking at these points. All of the seams are reinforced. A bonus is the packable pants come with a pouch for carrying in your backpack or for stowing on your boat if you want to use them fishing (I will!). The pant cuffs have a Velcro strap to secure around your shoes. The price is great for the quality of these rain pants and the color is closer to a teal/turquoise which as an artist, I find inspiring and attractive. I would not hesitate to order…

    Lightweight. Durable. Fits over pants/shorts.

If you are a golfer looking for a lightweight quality pair of breathable waterproof pants that store nicely in a stuff pocket that can fit in your bag on potentially rainy days that will easily fit over your pants or shorts. These are a great option.

They do run a little long. Go ahead and order your normal size as these fit over my bulky short with plenty of room.

Based on my experience with other waterproof gear these repel water very well. The material is in between lightweight and light-medium with a lean toward lightweight so they regulate possibly getting to hot if the weather is warmer.

    just okay

There are things I like about these and things I don't like about them. I like the price, the little stuff sack that comes with them for storing/packing, and they will keep rain off in a light rain situation. I don't like that the waste band has just a little bit of elastic in the back and a super thin and flimsy synch tie in the front. These also are not gortex or anything like it. They are more like a wind breaker material. It will help keep some rain off you for a little bit. For someone who is doing some serious camping or hiking, you would want something higher quality.

    Good quality

These are pretty good in terms of the quality you receive for the price. Fabric is of a decent weight vs teh other pair I have that feel like they might rip if you stare at them funny. Drawstring waste ensures a tight waste fit and is the only pieces that seems a bit cheap, but it works. Pants shed water and should work well as an emergency set of rain pants. Although the fabric is heavier, the pants are reasonably light, but would probably never make an ultralight backpackers kit. They will work well for golfing though and that is the intended use for me - - rain pants in the golf bag for when the inevitable day turns gray. Pant sizing is true to fit - ordered a large and they fit as I expected.
